The Omani Ministry of Labour has unveiled new rules mandating that individuals in the accounting and engineering fields must obtain professional certification to secure work permits.
This initiative is part of a comprehensive effort aimed at standardizing qualifications, enhancing professional skills, and supporting the national workforce development objectives of the Sultanate, as indicated in a report.
Important updates for businesses operating in Oman: Key details to note
Beginning August 1, 2025, work permits will not be issued or renewed for those engaged under the title of “engineer” without a valid professional classification certificate.
