GMG Teams Up with Amazon to Enhance Ecommerce in the MENA Region

GMG, a leading global retail and well-being conglomerate, has formed a strategic alliance with Amazon to revolutionize the online shopping experience in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This partnership aims to deliver competitive pricing, exclusive deals, and effortless access to a diverse array of products from key segments such as Sports, Health & Beauty, and Everyday Goods.

As part of this agreement, GMG and Amazon will work together to improve the delivery speeds for popular items within grocery, wellness, and lifestyle sectors. This collaboration will offer consumers broader access to both trusted international and local brands within GMG’s offerings, all through Amazon’s established online retail platform.

This initiative supports GMG’s omnichannel strategy, which integrates its extensive physical store presence with cutting-edge digital capabilities. By capitalizing on Amazon’s strengths in Artificial Intelligence, customer service advancements, and logistics, GMG is poised to expand its ecommerce footprint and enhance the online customer experience.

“Our collaboration with Amazon marks a significant milestone in our digital commerce initiatives. As consumer preferences evolve, we aim to provide exceptional experiences driven by technology, speed, and relevance. With the ecommerce market in the Middle East expected to reach $50 billion by 2025, this partnership is both timely and strategic. Together, we will create a groundbreaking ecommerce experience that reflects the energy and ambition of the retail landscape in the region,” stated Mohammad A. Baker, deputy chairman and CEO of GMG.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, remarked: “Fueled by our focus on customer satisfaction and forward-thinking strategies, we are excited to partner with GMG, a company that shares our innovative vision. By merging Amazon’s online retail proficiency with GMG’s extensive portfolio, we are simplifying access for customers in the region to the brands and products they cherish. Together, we anticipate delighting millions of consumers across MENA with this innovative new offering.”

As Amazon continues to broaden its product range and provide services like same-day delivery, this partnership is expected to establish new standards for ecommerce excellence in the region. For GMG, this collaboration underscores its dedication to technology-driven retail innovation while broadening its customer reach.

In recent years, GMG’s retail sectors have experienced substantial growth. GMG Sports operates over 650 stores and represents more than 90 brands, including several proprietary lines. The Everyday Goods division manages over 60 stores and oversees 10 in-house brands. Additionally, GMG Health & Beauty operates more than 105 stores featuring four proprietary wellness brands alongside an array of globally recognized products.

Customers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt can expect to see GMG’s product offerings becoming available on Amazon.ae, Amazon.sa, and Amazon.eg in the upcoming months, with a phased rollout commencing soon.
