The individual had four bags filled with valuable diamond pieces, worth approximately Dhs1.1 million. Upon reaching his destination, he was alarmed to find that a bag he was carrying did not belong to him. Upon realizing the mix-up, he quickly returned to the UAE and filed a report with the General Department of Airport Security, as reported by Dubai Police.
Details of the Mix-Up
A specialized investigative team swiftly determined that a traveller from Bangladesh had mistakenly taken the jeweller’s bag during security checks, confusing it with his own due to their similar appearance. However, the jeweller had inadvertently taken the other user’s bag. By this point, the Bangladeshi traveller had already returned to his home country.
Dubai Police promptly began legal and administrative actions and established direct communication with the UAE Embassy in Dhaka along with Bangladeshi officials. Through this teamwork, the jewellery bag was successfully tracked down and returned to its rightful owner in the UAE.
Appreciation for Collaborative Efforts
Dubai Police expressed their gratitude for the involvement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Abdulla Al Hamoudi, and his team, who were instrumental in facilitating the necessary processes. The police force also commended the strong collaboration with Bangladeshi authorities, underscoring the vital role of international cooperation in law enforcement to uphold justice, safeguard rights, and enhance community safety.
The jeweller conveyed his deep appreciation to Dubai Police for their quick and efficient management of the case. “I truly struggle to find the words to convey my gratitude,” he stated. “Your incredible attention to detail and genuine commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction are nothing short of remarkable.”
Extradition of Two International Criminals
Dubai Police have reaffirmed their capability in tackling transnational crime and drug offenses, as evidenced by two significant operations conducted this month.
On July 25, authorities transferred two individuals, wanted internationally, to French law enforcement. These suspects were connected to various organized transnational crimes, including attempted fraud and drug trafficking, as reported by WAM.
The apprehensions occurred after international red notices were issued, with these suspects appearing on INTERPOL and Europol’s wanted lists.
Dubai Police confirmed that the transfer was coordinated through the UAE Ministry of Interior and the Dubai Public Prosecution, ensuring compliance with all required legal and judicial protocols.
This activity was in response to international arrest warrants received by the International Cooperation Department at the UAE Ministry of Justice, which serves as the central authority for such extradition requests.
With this recent transfer, the total number of suspects extradited to France by Dubai Police in 2025 has reached ten. These individuals faced serious allegations involving murder, managing criminal organizations, money laundering, armed robbery, and drug trafficking.
