This jeweler was carrying four bags filled with exquisite diamonds valued at approximately Dhs1.1 million. Upon reaching his destination, he was taken aback to find that one of the bags he possessed was not his own. Realizing the mistake, he returned to the UAE at once and filed a report with the General Department of Airport Security, as stated in a report from Dubai Police Media.

Details of the Mix-Up

An investigative team quickly determined that a Bangladeshi traveler had inadvertently taken the jeweler’s bag during security checks, mistaking it for his own due to their similar appearances. Meanwhile, the jeweler had mistakenly picked up the other traveler’s bag. By that time, the Bangladeshi traveler had already returned to Bangladesh.

In response, Dubai Police swiftly initiated legal and administrative actions, collaborating directly with the UAE Embassy in Dhaka and Bangladeshi authorities. Their efforts led to the successful recovery of the jewelry bag, which was then returned to its rightful owner in the UAE.

Appreciation for Collaborative Efforts

Dubai Police expressed their gratitude towards the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Abdulla Al Hamoudi, and his team, who facilitated the necessary procedures. They also commended the strong partnership with Bangladeshi officials, highlighting the significance of international cooperation in law enforcement to ensure justice and community safety.

The jeweler expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dubai Police for their prompt and professional resolution of the case. “I really struggle to find the words to convey my appreciation,” he remarked. “Your incredible attention to detail and genuine dedication to assisting people is truly commendable.”

Extradition of Two International Fugitives

Dubai Police continue to showcase their capability in tackling international crime and drug-related activities, with two significant operations executed this month.

On July 25, Dubai Police extradited two individuals wanted internationally to French authorities. These suspects were tied to organized crime activities, including attempted fraud, drug trafficking, and the distribution of controlled substances, according to a report by WAM.

The arrests were made following the issuance of international red notices, with these individuals included in the wanted lists of INTERPOL and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol).

Dubai Police assured that the handover was organized through the UAE Ministry of Interior and Dubai Public Prosecution, ensuring all necessary legal protocols were followed.

This event follows the reception of international arrest warrants by the International Cooperation Department at the UAE Ministry of Justice, which serves as the central authority for handling such extradition requests.

With this recent handover, the count of suspects extradited to France by Dubai Police in 2025 now totals ten, encompassing serious international offenses such as murder, operating criminal organizations, money laundering, armed robbery, and drug trafficking.
