The Indonesian Geological Agency has reported that the “Leutobi” volcano on Flores Island erupted again early yesterday morning, sending a dense ash plume soaring to an altitude of 18 kilometers.
The eruption occurred in East Nusa Tenggara Province, releasing a column of both gray and black ash.
As per the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center, volcanic materials were observed drifting to the southwest, west, and northwest. The volcano remains at the highest alert level.
Authorities have warned residents and visitors to stay away from areas within 6 to 7 kilometers of the volcano’s summit.
