The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the incursion by Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, protected by Israeli police. This act is viewed as a provocative escalation and an unacceptable extremist action.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the Israeli government to take responsibility for these actions, denounce such incitement, and hold accountable all those involved, particularly ministers and officials within the Israeli government.
The UAE emphasized that these repeated assaults, along with the accompanying incitements to hatred and violence, constitute a systematic extremist campaign that not only targets the Palestinian people but also threatens social peace, leading to heightened tensions.
The statement stressed the importance of respecting the existing historical and legal status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, ensuring the protection of all religious sanctities, and recognizing the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s role in the management and care of the mosque’s affairs.
