The Nordic countries that are members of NATO—Sweden, Denmark, and Norway—are set to contribute over $500 million to an initiative aimed at expediting the transfer of weapons from the United States to Ukraine.
Sweden is committing $275 million towards Ukraine’s prioritized needs, a plan coordinated by NATO. Denmark has pledged 580 million Danish crowns (approximately $90 million), while Norway will contribute 1.5 billion Norwegian crowns (around $146 million), as announced by the governments of the three nations.
As part of this initiative, the participating countries will purchase defense equipment from the U.S. and supply it to Ukraine, enabling the country to bolster its defense against the ongoing Russian invasion.
The Scandinavian package includes missiles for air defense systems (Patriot), as reported by Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson during a press conference in Stockholm. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte expressed gratitude to the three nations for their contributions.
