Dr. Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting international and regional efforts aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire in Sudan and safeguarding civilians.
Through a post on the platform “X,” he stated: “The UAE responds to the claims made by the Port Sudan Authority, one of the parties involved in the conflict, and reiterates its dedication to backing international and regional initiatives for an immediate ceasefire, protecting civilians, holding accountable those responsible for atrocities and violations, and collaborating with partners to find a comprehensive solution that ends this war and ensures a secure future for Sudan and its people.”
The UAE had strongly rejected the unfounded allegations and accusations outlined in the statement from the Port Sudan Authority, which falsely claimed the UAE’s involvement in the ongoing conflict in Sudan through alleged support for armed groups or factions.
The UAE emphasized that these claims, lacking any evidence, are merely weak media maneuvers intended to distract from the Port Sudan Authority’s direct responsibility for prolonging this civil war, which has lasted over two years, and for undermining all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving peace in Sudan.
