Eng. Ibrahim Al Nahham, the Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering Affairs and Projects, mentioned that various major healthcare initiatives are presently in progress or have been recently completed, marking a positive advancement in the medical sector.
Modern Maternity Hospital Sets a New Standard
Among the standout projects is the new Maternity Hospital situated in the Sabah Medical Zone. Built adhering to the highest global standards, this facility exemplifies modern healthcare, blending advanced medical technologies with patient-oriented care.
Focused on women’s health and neonatal services, the hospital employs environmentally responsible and energy-efficient construction practices, acting as a key center for maternal and child health in the area.
New Al Sabah Hospital: A Landmark Development
Another significant project is the construction of the new Al-Sabah Hospital, located within the same medical zone. Covering an area of 88,710 square meters, this facility is designed as a self-sufficient medical complex providing both general and specialized healthcare services.
The hospital will feature three primary towers, a parking structure, and an engineering services building. Upon completion, it will offer 512 inpatient beds, 105 ICU beds, 72 outpatient clinics, and a helipad for emergency airlifts. All critical services will be consolidated within this complex.
Specialized Communicable Diseases Hospital
To bolster Kuwait’s public health and infectious disease management capabilities, the Ministry is developing a new Communicable Diseases Hospital. Spanning 74,000 square meters, this facility will include a main hospital building and a kitchen complex.
The hospital will provide 224 inpatient beds and will feature vital departments such as emergency services, radiology, pharmacy, medical records, and various support functions. It is engineered to manage outbreaks and specialized cases of communicable diseases, incorporating advanced safety measures.
Comprehensive Cancer Care at Kuwait Cancer Control Centre
A pivotal component of Kuwait’s cancer treatment resources is the Kuwait Cancer Control Centre, which is under construction in the Sabah Medical Zone. Encompassing 303,536 square meters, this facility is set to be one of the most advanced oncology hospitals in the region.
The main structure will have two wings—one for outpatients and another for inpatients—housing a total of 618 beds. It will feature fully automated systems alongside cutting-edge mechanical and electrical infrastructure to facilitate high-level cancer care and research.
New Al Adan Hospital Complex: A Major Medical Hub
The New Al Adan Hospital project represents one of Kuwait’s most ambitious healthcare undertakings. Located in the Al Adan district, the complex will consist of seven interlinked buildings connected through underground tunnels.
Key Elements Include:
- A 226,369-square-meter maternity and pediatrics hospital with 637 fixed and 471 mobile beds over 14 floors, including a basement and a helipad.
- A surgical and central services building of 34,417 square meters housing 141 mobile beds across two floors.
- A physical therapy and rehabilitation center extending over 28,525 square meters with three floors and a basement.
- An administrative and parking facility for the health district spanning eight floors and 118,696 square meters.
