French prosecutors have initiated an investigation following a video in which an Israeli rabbi issued threats against President Emmanuel Macron.
According to the French public prosecutor’s office, the inquiry focuses on “death threats against the President of the Republic,” prompted by reports from French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau and an online platform dedicated to reporting hate and violence-related content.
The public prosecutor’s office stated that it has assigned the Paris judicial police’s criminal investigation unit to look into the matter.
In the video, Rabbi Daniel David Cohen, who appears to reside in Israel, criticized President Macron in connection with his plan to recognize the State of Palestine.
The rabbi expressed that Macron would reveal his “deep anti-Semitism” through the expected acknowledgment set for September. He further remarked, “This French president should be aware that it is in his best interest to prepare his coffin.
