In a statement released today, the council warned that the continuation of such unilateral policies only exacerbates the suffering of the Palestinian people. They called on the international community, the United Nations, and the Security Council to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities to put an end to these violations and to ensure the protection of civilians while preventing the worsening of conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Jarwan emphasized that the rights of the Palestinian people are inalienable and non-negotiable, and any infringement upon them constitutes a blatant violation of international law and principles of justice. He stressed the urgent need for action to stop forced displacements and military escalation, while creating conditions conducive to a fair and lasting peace.
The council reiterated its support for the two-state solution as the only pathway toward achieving security and stability in the region, asserting that the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state is a political, legal, and moral obligation that cannot be overlooked.
