Lebanese Prime Minister Mourns Several Army Casualties in the South

The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Nawaf Salam, mourned the loss of several Lebanese Army members who died while fulfilling their national duty in the southern region of the country.

In a statement on his X platform account, Salam expressed, “With great sorrow, Lebanon mourns the brave sons of our army who became martyrs in the south while performing their national duty.”

He added that “the entire nation, both government and people, bows in respect to their sacrifices and pure blood, which reaffirm that our army is the bastion of security, the defender of sovereignty, and the protector of national unity and its legitimate institutions. May our heroes rest in peace.”

A Lebanese report on Saturday noted that there were casualties among the army during the disarmament of remnants from Israeli military operations in the south.

According to the National News Agency, “unexploded ordnance from the Israeli aggression in the south detonated while a Lebanese Army engineering team was dismantling some shells in the area between the villages of Majdelzon and Zibqin in the Tyre District.”

It further mentioned “reports of injuries among them, including martyrs.”
