Palestinian Presidency: The Occupation of Gaza, Annexation of the West Bank, and Judaization of Jerusalem Will Not Bring Security to Anyone

The official spokesperson for the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, stated today that “Israeli policies, which include the reoccupation of Gaza, attempts to annex the West Bank, and the judaization of Jerusalem, will close all avenues for achieving security and stability both in the region and globally.”

According to the Palestinian news and information agency (Wafa), Abu Rudeineh emphasized that “Israel’s refusal to heed international criticism of its policies, alongside warnings issued by various nations regarding the escalation of hostilities against the Palestinian people, represents an unprecedented challenge and provocation to the international community’s efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability, as outlined in international law and various global resolutions, including the New York Declaration and the ongoing international recognition of the State of Palestine.”

He affirmed that “the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine, just like Jerusalem and the West Bank. Without Gaza, there will be no Palestinian state, nor will there be a state within Gaza. It is essential for the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to compel the occupying state to cease its aggression, allow humanitarian aid in, and seriously work towards enabling the State of Palestine to assume full responsibility in Gaza.”

Abu Rudeineh also urged the U.S. administration to take responsibility for preventing Israel from further escalating the conflict and to stop settler violence in the West Bank, in order to facilitate the achievement of security and stability in the region.
