The Israeli military approved its next phase of operations in the Gaza Strip yesterday, confirming a focus on the city of Gaza. This plan aims to displace residents towards the southern part of the territory amid concerns about their potential relocation outside its borders.
Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir stated that the current conflict is not merely a localized event but rather an integral part of a long-term, strategic approach.
During a tour of the area, he emphasized that the military would intensify its attacks within the city of Gaza.
To prepare for the invasion of Gaza and the displacement of its residents, Israel announced that it will permit the entry of tents for those fleeing from the north to the south, coordinating with the United Nations and international relief organizations. However, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees expressed that it would not take part in any initiative aimed at forcing Gaza’s inhabitants to relocate within the territory or be displaced outside of it, adding that Israeli plans are intended not just to move Palestinians within Gaza but to expel them entirely.
