Jordan Strongly Responds to Netanyahu’s Comments on “Greater Israel

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry Condemns Netanyahu’s Comments on “Greater Israel”

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly criticized comments made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the so-called “Greater Israel” vision. This statement is seen as a serious provocation, a threat to national sovereignty, and a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, as reported by Jordan’s news agency “Petra.”

Official Response from the Jordanian Government

Sufian Al-Qudah, the spokesperson for the ministry, asserted the Kingdom’s absolute rejection of these inflammatory remarks. He emphasized that these baseless illusions reflected in the statements of Israeli officials would not undermine Jordan or Arab nations, nor diminish the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

Al-Qudah further pointed out that such statements and actions illustrate the precarious situation of the Israeli government, coinciding with its international isolation amid ongoing aggression in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Call for International Action

He underscored that the claims and fantasies promoted by extremist elements within the Israeli government encourage the ongoing cycles of violence and conflict. This necessitates a clear international stance condemning these remarks and warning of their dire consequences on regional security and stability, alongside holding the perpetrators accountable.

The spokesperson insisted on the urgent need for the international community to act swiftly to halt all Israeli provocative actions and statements that threaten regional stability and international peace and security.

Comment from Israeli Prime Minister

In a recent interview with the Israeli channel i24, Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed that he feels he is on a “historic and spiritual mission,” insisting on his commitment to the vision of “Greater Israel.”

Arab League’s Condemnation

The Arab League vehemently condemned Netanyahu’s statements regarding the annexation of parts of sovereign Arab territories as a preliminary step toward establishing what he termed “Greater Israel.” The League interpreted these comments as an infringement on the sovereignty of Arab nations and an attempt to undermine regional security and stability.

GCC’s Strong Stance

Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), also expressed strong condemnation and deep disapproval of Netanyahu’s statements regarding territorial annexation. He deemed these remarks a blatant violation of the UN Charter and international law, constituting an outright attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

Al-Budaiwi emphasized that such statements and dangerous plans pose a direct threat to regional and international security and reveal the alarming approach adopted by the Israeli military. He reiterated the GCC’s firm rejection of any attempts to infringe upon the national sovereignty and territorial unity of Arab nations.
