Dubai Unveils 200 New EV Chargers for 30-Minute Charging Solution

In a significant step towards promoting sustainable transport, Parkin Company, a leading provider of paid public parking in Dubai, has formalized a 10-year strategic partnership with charge&go, a branch of Etisalat Services Holding (ESH) under the e& group. This collaboration is set to introduce 200 ultra-fast direct current (DC) electric vehicle charging stations throughout Dubai, substantially improving the city’s electric vehicle infrastructure.

The rollout is scheduled to begin in October 2025, deploying cutting-edge DC charging technology across prime locations in the emirate, covering areas from residential neighborhoods to shopping and leisure districts. This initiative aims to accommodate the burgeoning electric vehicle market in Dubai, which has over 40,000 electric vehicles currently operational.

The project intends to reduce charging times to less than 30 minutes, offering enhanced convenience for drivers while aligning with Dubai’s broader 2040 Urban Master Plan and sustainability targets.

Phase One: Initial Deployment and Expansion Plans

The initiative will commence with the establishment of 20 charging stations in some of Dubai’s high-traffic areas. Within a year, the plan is to scale up to 200 public and private charging points, creating a comprehensive network across the city.

All charging stations will follow a ‘park and charge’ system, allowing vehicles to occupy charging spaces solely while actively charging. This strategy aims to minimize misuse and ensure equitable access for all electric vehicle users.

The charging experience will seamlessly integrate with Parkin’s mobile application, allowing users to reserve charging spots, receive real-time updates, and complete secure payments within the app. This user-focused, digital-first approach illustrates both companies’ dedication to innovative city solutions.

Using DC charging technology allows for much faster charging compared to standard alternating current (AC) methods, which is essential for urban drivers who prioritize speed and efficiency.

Leadership Insights: Unified Goals for Sustainable Mobility

“This alliance with charge&go exemplifies our dedication to promoting cleaner, technology-driven transportation solutions,” stated Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin. “By collaborating with e&, we leverage international expertise to propel Dubai towards becoming a sustainable, forward-thinking city.”

Muammar Al Rukhaimi, CEO of Etisalat Services Holding, shared similar views: “Dubai is pioneering a new approach to urban sustainability. This rollout of electric vehicle infrastructure is a substantial advancement. We aim to make green mobility accessible while providing practical advantages like faster charging and an improved user experience.”

From Concept to Reality

The groundwork for this partnership was established in October 2024 at GITEX Global, the technology and startup exhibition, where Parkin and charge&go formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding.

Currently, Parkin oversees approximately 212,000 paid parking spaces in Dubai, positioning the company to effectively support the growth of EV charging alongside existing facilities.

This electric vehicle charging initiative goes beyond mere convenience; it marks a significant advancement in Dubai’s sustainable urban transport development. With state-of-the-art technology, easy digital access, and a vision that aligns with global climate objectives, Parkin and e& are setting a new benchmark for green mobility in the region.
