The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai has launched an innovative initiative called “Al-Furaj Scientific Council.” This comprehensive educational program in Sharia sciences adopts a modern and flexible approach, catering to the needs of all community members while promoting noble Islamic values across various age groups.
This program has been thoughtfully crafted to align with contemporary educational demands, offering flexible learning pathways that allow participants to choose their preferred mode of study—whether in-person, remotely, or through self-directed learning on a smart educational platform. This initiative is supervised by a distinguished group of academics and experts in the field.
Ahamd Darwish Al-Maheiri, the General Director of the department, stated that the launch of “Al-Furaj Scientific Council” is a direct response to the needs of the community, following comprehensive surveys conducted to identify the educational requirements of our youth and society regarding Islamic education. He highlighted that the project aligns with the “Closer to Community” strategy and aims to facilitate access to reliable and comprehensive Sharia knowledge, taking into account individual capabilities to ensure a flexible and effective educational experience.
The Al-Furaj Scientific Council program has been structured into three educational levels spanning three academic years. It emphasizes essential disciplines that include jurisprudence, interpretation, prophetic biography, Hadith, Arabic language, and Islamic values, aiming to achieve clear cognitive and behavioral outcomes.
Through field visits to select mosques across Dubai and six centers located in Al-Mazhar, Umm Suqeim, Nad Shiba, Al-Warchaa, and Al-Barsha, the program offers flexible options regarding study schedules (morning or evening) and the number of study days per week (one or two days).
