The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, stated yesterday that residents of Gaza are enduring unimaginable suffering.
In a post on the platform X, he remarked, “It is time for Israel to stop promoting an alternate narrative and to allow humanitarian organizations to deliver aid without restrictions.”
On Friday, the largest global initiative focused on food crises warned of an impending famine in Gaza City, highlighting that it will spread throughout the region if a ceasefire is not achieved and aid is not allowed in.
The head of the UNICEF has indicated that Palestinian children are facing a dire food shortage, surviving for months without adequate nutrition and lacking even the energy to cry.
She affirmed that approximately 28 children in Gaza are killed daily since the conflict began.
Despite the looming famine, four Israeli army brigades have begun to secure areas around Gaza City.
Additionally, the military has started engineering operations to prepare southern areas of the city for the displacement of residents.
