Dubai’s “Al-Frej Fridge” Initiative Distributes Water to Workers

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai participated in the second edition of the “Fridge of the Neighborhood” campaign, launched by “Dubai Communities” on June 23, with support from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, in collaboration with the UAE Water Foundation and the Emirates Food Bank. The aim of the initiative is to distribute two million bottles of cold water, juices, and ice creams to workers in Dubai, alleviating the challenges posed by the summer heat.

This campaign, which concludes today, primarily focuses on street and road laborers, construction workers, delivery drivers, and agricultural workers, helping to mitigate health risks related to high temperatures like dehydration and heat stress while promoting values of solidarity and compassion within the Dubai community.

Obaid Bin Surour: The campaign exemplifies the giving and solidarity values inherent in Dubai’s community

Major General Obaid Mehr Bin Surour, the Deputy Director General, emphasized that the “Fridge of the Neighborhood” campaign serves as a shining example of the values of giving and solidarity that are deeply rooted in Dubai society. He noted that this initiative reflects the vision of the Dubai Residency to prioritize human service above all else.

He also pointed out that this initiative goes beyond merely distributing water, juices, and ice creams; it carries a deeper humanitarian message of respect and appreciation for the workers who contribute daily to the city’s development and cleanliness. He reaffirmed that supporting these workers is part of Dubai’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life and guaranteeing a safe and inclusive work environment for all.

Furthermore, he stressed that the participation of the Dubai Residency in this campaign aligns with its social responsibility and its proactive role in reinforcing positive values within the community, especially during the “Year of Community” initiative through targeted efforts that promote social cohesion.

He explained that the organization operates under a framework that connects humanitarian work with Dubai’s strategic vision, ensuring the city remains a global model for compassion and coexistence, providing its residents and visitors with an ideal environment for work, living, and thriving. These principles are at the heart of the organizational reputation that the Dubai Residency aims to strengthen both locally and internationally.

Ibrahim Al Blooshi: Record-breaking successes in distributing water, juices, and ice creams

Ibrahim Al Blooshi, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, commended the participation of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the “Fridge of the Neighborhood” campaign. He remarked that the substantial momentum of the campaign in its second edition paints a positive picture of the humanitarian aspect of Dubai’s community.

Al Blooshi stated that the “Fridge of the Neighborhood” continues to achieve unprecedented success in terms of distributing water, juices, and ice creams to workers and the community’s engagement with the campaign. This highlights the commitment of various community segments and institutions to support the initiative’s objectives and to care for the health and living conditions of workers.

The campaign aims to enhance community involvement in alleviating health risks faced by workers due to rising temperatures, thereby maintaining their well-being. The “Fridge of the Neighborhood” reflects the efforts of “Dubai Communities” to encourage residents’ commitment to social responsibility, especially towards workers, in recognition of their dedication and hard work to bring joy and happiness to their lives.
