Sustainability Sessions at the Government Communication Forum Explore the Future of Cities

The 14th International Government Communication Forum, organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, will take place on September 10 and 11. This year’s forum will focus on the themes of sustainability and the environment, initiating a comprehensive dialogue on how communication can serve as a catalyst for behavioral change, foster partnerships to enhance quality of life, and address the urgent environmental challenges the world faces today.

Discussions will range from smart cities to marine sustainability, as well as confronting climate crises and engaging youth and children in shaping the future. A key session titled “How Do We Transition to Smart and Sustainable Cities?” will explore the role of technology in creating cities that ensure equitable access to services while minimizing environmental impact. The contributions of artificial intelligence and cloud computing to the development of transportation, health, and energy sectors will be highlighted as well.

The session will feature notable participants, including Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Department; Sharif Tawfiq, Head of Private Partnerships for Artificial Intelligence and Sovereign Cloud at Microsoft; Dina Sherif, Executive Director of the MIT Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship; and Gary Borneski, Managing Director of the Purdue Center for Global Food Security.
