Apple has officially announced its eagerly awaited annual fall presentation, scheduled for September 9. The company issued invitations on Tuesday, August 26, confirming that the event will occur at the Steve Jobs Theater located on its Cupertino, California campus.
This event is expected to be a significant highlight for the technology giant, showcasing its upcoming devices and enhancing its integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into both hardware and software. With competitors such as Samsung, Honor, and Huawei making notable advancements in the AI arena, the pressure is on.

Investors and analysts are anticipated to closely monitor how Apple positions itself in the increasingly competitive AI landscape, particularly after its comparatively slow entry into this domain against other technology leaders.
iPhone 17 series and the potential launch of iPhone Air
Apple is expected to introduce four new iPhone 17 models. The primary lineup will feature the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, there is increasing speculation that the company may discontinue the iPhone Plus, possibly substituting it with a slimmer, mid-sized model tentatively referred to as the iPhone Air.
According to AppleInsider, the iPhone Air is predicted to sport a 6.6-inch display, aligning with Apple’s branding approach seen with its iPad Air and MacBook Air series. This new option could attract users who prefer a more streamlined design without sacrificing screen size.
In terms of aesthetics, color leaks suggest that the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air models might be available in black, white, gray, pastel green, pastel purple, and pastel blue. Conversely, the Pro models are likely to feature a more muted color scheme, including black, white, gray/titanium, deep blue, and burnt orange.
In addition to new iPhones, Apple is expected to present a range of upgraded products. According to Bloomberg News, updates are anticipated for the Apple Watch lineup, which will encompass both entry-level and premium models. New iPad Pro versions and an enhanced iteration of the Vision Pro headset are also on the horizon.
These product reveals will follow Apple’s WWDC showcase in June, where the company debuted several new AI-dependent features and a redesigned user interface for its operating system, now referred to as having a “liquid glass” look.
AI advancements and external challenges
As integrating AI becomes essential for competitiveness, Apple finds itself in a position of needing to catch up. Although the company has recently rolled out new AI tools, its late entry has allowed competitors to advance ahead.
Moreover, Apple is managing external challenges, such as ongoing tariff issues. Facing pressure from the Trump administration, Apple has pledged to invest $600 billion in the United States over the next four years. This investment will include initiatives to relocate parts of its production outside of China and India, both of which are critical manufacturing centers impacted by tariff regulations.
With the September event approaching, Apple appears ready to make a strong statement, not only regarding its product offerings but also concerning its future role in the AI sector.
