Israeli military spokesperson Avichai Adraee has urged all residents of Gaza City to evacuate immediately.
Adraee confirmed that the Israeli Defense Forces are committed to eradicating Hamas and will intensify their operations in the Gaza City area.
The military official posted on his social media account:
– To all inhabitants of Gaza City and those in its neighborhoods, from the old city and Tuffah in the east to the sea in the west.
– The military is determined to terminate Hamas and will operate vigorously in Gaza City, similarly to its actions throughout the entire region.
– For your safety, please evacuate immediately via the Rashed route towards the humanitarian area in Mawasi.
– Remaining in the area poses a significant danger.
– To report any obstacles set by Hamas or attempts by its members to hinder evacuation, contact 0529625830.
Additionally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed Gaza City residents to leave urgently as the military escalates its operations within and around one of the most densely populated cities in the region. The United Nations has warned of an impending “disaster” if the Israeli offensive continues.
In a video statement on Monday, Netanyahu remarked, “In two days, we have destroyed 50 terrorist towers, and this is just the beginning of the intensive ground operation in Gaza City. I advise residents: you have been warned, leave now.”
He further stated, “This is merely an introduction, the beginning of the primary intense operation, as our troops are currently organizing and preparing to enter Gaza City.”
Moreover, Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, criticized on Monday what he termed a “clear rhetoric of extermination” from Israeli officials regarding Gaza. He cautioned that the area has indeed become akin to a “graveyard” and called for decisive international action to “stop the massacre.”
During the opening of the sixtieth session of the UN Human Rights Council, Turk condemned the “mass killings” perpetrated by Israel in Gaza.
He stated, “The mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, the unspeakable suffering and widespread destruction, the blockade of sufficient aid to save lives, the resulting starvation of civilians, and the killing of journalists, UN personnel, and NGO workers, along with the ongoing war crimes, all of these shock the conscience of the world.” He added, “The Gaza Strip has turned into a graveyard.”
Turk expressed his shock over the public discourse surrounding extermination and the dehumanizing rhetoric aimed at Palestinians from senior Israeli officials.
