Joby Aviation, known for its electric air taxi innovations, has teamed up with Uber Technologies, the leading platform for ridesharing and delivery services, to integrate Blade’s aerial mobility offerings into the Uber app starting next year. This collaboration follows Joby’s recent takeover of Blade’s passenger service operations.
In the year 2024, Blade catered to over 50,000 customers across routes in the New York metropolitan area and Southern Europe, linking popular destinations like Newark Liberty International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Manhattan, and the Hamptons.
“We’re thrilled to offer Uber customers the enchantment of effortless urban air travel,” expressed JoeBen Bevirt, founder and CEO of Joby. “Incorporating Blade into the Uber app is a logical progression in our global alliance with Uber and will set the groundwork for the launch of our quiet, zero-emission aircraft in the forthcoming years. By combining Uber’s global reach with Blade’s established network, we are paving the way for a new phase of air travel across the globe.”
Andrew Macdonald, president and COO of Uber, remarked: “From our early beginnings, we have recognized the potential of advanced air mobility to provide safe, quiet, and eco-friendly transport to urban areas globally. By utilizing the expansive Uber platform and collaborating with Joby, the leader in advanced air mobility, we are eager to offer our customers the next evolution in travel.”

Joby and Uber have been working together on urban aerial mobility since 2019. Joby’s acquisition of Uber’s Elevate division in 2021 significantly boosted the development of the sector by providing important tools for market analysis, demand forecasting, and multimodal operations.
Following its acquisition of Blade’s passenger service in August 2025, Joby aims to utilize Blade’s infrastructure and its ten years of expertise in vertical air travel to speed up the deployment of its electric air taxi service in major cities around the world, including Dubai, New York, Los Angeles, the UK, and Japan. Joby’s electric aircraft is engineered to transport four passengers and a pilot at speeds of up to 200 mph, featuring an acoustic footprint that is 100 times quieter than conventional helicopters.
Blade currently operates its services through a network of landing sites equipped with dedicated passenger lounges. Once the integration is finalized, Uber customers will have the ability to book Blade flights seamlessly through the Uber app, facilitating quicker, more efficient travel across some of the most congested urban landscapes globally.
