His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Head of the Sharjah Communication and Technology Authority, witnessed yesterday the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the Sharjah Communication and Technology Authority and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, commonly known as “du,” in his office.
The agreement was signed by Rashid Ali Al Ali, the Executive Director of the authority, and Fahad Al Hassawi, the CEO of “du.”
The purpose of the agreement is to enhance the communication infrastructure by promoting network expansion throughout the emirate and its affiliated regions. It aims to support critical telecommunications projects in the emirate by enabling the company to develop and operate a modern and sustainable infrastructure that meets the needs of smart cities.
This initiative will contribute to improving the quality of services offered to individuals and economic sectors, with the authority committed to providing the necessary facilitation for the company to execute its projects in this field.
The agreement also includes collaboration on the establishment of an integrated data center in Kalba city, alongside a secure marine access project for laying undersea cables, which will enhance the emirate’s position as a vital digital connectivity hub.
It will allow the company access to strategic locations within the emirate to expand network coverage and enhance communication services, in accordance with established regulatory frameworks.
Additionally, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Head of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Excellence in Government Performance, also witnessed the signing of a sponsorship agreement between the award and “du” in his office yesterday.
The agreement was signed by Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, the award’s director, and Fahad Al Hassawi, the CEO of “du.”
This agreement stipulates that “du” will sponsor the second edition of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Excellence in Government Performance, which focuses on highlighting the efforts of organizations and enhancing competitiveness and innovation within the public and private sectors.
The agreement represents a significant addition that will help achieve the award’s objectives, further enhancing its status as a prominent national platform for celebrating exemplary institutional practices and strengthening its role in supporting institutional development efforts and promoting a culture of quality and innovation, positively impacting the competitiveness of Sharjah and its leadership in various fields.
