Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stated today that the Palestinian Authority will assume full responsibility in Gaza with support from Arab and international allies. He emphasized that there will be no governance by Hamas following the conflict, reiterating that Gaza is an integral part of the State of Palestine.
In a message directed to the leadership of the international conference in New York, Abbas insisted that Hamas must relinquish its weapons to the Palestinian Authority, as the goal is to establish an unarmed state.
Abbas highlighted the current priorities for the Palestinian cause, which include an immediate and lasting ceasefire, ensuring complete access to humanitarian aid in Gaza, releasing hostages and prisoners, withdrawing Israeli military forces, and commencing early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
