Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced yesterday that the country is preparing to deploy hundreds of counter-drone systems in response to extensive Russian drone attacks.
In a joint press conference with Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosieniak-Kamysz, Shmyhal stated that when Russia launches as many as 800 drones in a single night, Ukraine will need to counter with at least 1,000 intercepting drones.
He emphasized that while Ukraine aims to achieve this capability, he did not specify a timeline for the deployment of such numbers. The key challenge, he noted, lies not in production capacity but in the effective ground control of the counter-drones.
Russian forces have frequently conducted large-scale drone assaults against Ukraine, which have at times strained the country’s air defense systems.
