The British Foreign Office has announced that the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) is actively seeking to recruit new spies for the UK, including potential operatives within Russia, through the launch of a new portal on the dark web.
This new secure messaging platform, named “Silent Messenger,” will utilize the anonymity features provided by the dark web for the first time, as part of efforts to enhance the UK’s defenses against global instability, international terrorism, and hostile intelligence operations.
The platform will enable individuals anywhere in the world who possess sensitive information related to terrorism or adversarial intelligence activities to securely communicate with the UK and offer their assistance.
Newly appointed Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stated, “As the world evolves and the threats we face multiply, we must ensure that the UK remains one step ahead of our adversaries. Our world-class intelligence agencies are at the forefront of these challenges, working behind the scenes to protect the British public.”
The portal will be accessible starting today, with user instructions to be released on MI6’s official YouTube channel. Users are advised to connect using reliable VPN networks and devices that are not linked to their personal identities.
