The American President, Donald Trump, remarked that the United States has played a role in resolving seven conflicts and initially believed that the war in Ukraine would be among the easiest to resolve, thanks to his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ultimately let him down.
During a press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London, Trump commended the UK for allocating 5% of its GDP for military expenditures. He expressed disappointment over Putin’s actions while emphasizing his ongoing efforts to address the disputes in both Gaza and Ukraine.
Trump stated, “The United States is diligently working to end the conflict in Gaza. It’s complicated, but it will be resolved. We have successfully mediated seven wars that previously seemed impossible to negotiate.”
He continued, “We are putting in significant effort into the situation in Gaza. It’s challenging, but we will find a resolution, as we will for the Russia-Ukraine conflict. I want the hostages released (in Gaza) immediately, not tomorrow.”
He added, “I seek an end to the war and the liberation of hostages. I believe that things will improve. This has been a tough period, which has persisted far too long. It hasn’t been just a year or two; this has gone on for decades, and it must come to an end. We need to secure the release of the captives and bring an end to the fighting, and it will stop.”
Yesterday, the American President and the British Prime Minister signed an agreement aimed at enhancing technological collaboration between their nations in areas such as artificial intelligence and nuclear energy.
During an event held at Chequers, the British Prime Minister’s rural residence, Trump remarked, “This agreement will help strengthen cooperation among public authorities, academic circles, and the private sector in fields like artificial intelligence.”
He added, “Our tech partnership will ensure that Washington and London lead together in the next significant technological revolution,” emphasizing that “the collaboration between our nations is unprecedented in history.”
For his part, Starmer stated, “We share a special friendship with the United States; we fight together and create together.” He reaffirmed the importance of strengthening economic ties with Washington and fostering job growth.
