On Thursday, former U.S. President Donald Trump revealed efforts to reacquire the Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.
This historic airport, originally constructed by the Soviet Union, served as the primary base for American forces in Afghanistan following the September 11 attacks until the withdrawal in 2021, after which it came under Taliban control.
During a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump stated, “We are attempting to regain it,” referring to the strategically located Bagram, which is situated near China.
He emphasized, “We want to have that base back.”
