Rory McIlroy Set to Compete in the 2026 Hero Dubai Desert Classic

Rory McIlroy has officially announced his participation in the 2026 Hero Dubai Desert Classic, scheduled to take place at Emirates Golf Club from January 22 to 25, 2026. This comes on the heels of a remarkable season during which he achieved a career Grand Slam at Augusta National.

Currently leading the Race to Dubai Rankings and gearing up for Europe’s Ryder Cup title defense, the five-time Major champion will be aiming for a record fifth Dallah Trophy at this prestigious event, often referred to as the “Major of the Middle East.” Attendees can look forward to fresh experiences and activities both on the course and off, further solidifying the tournament’s reputation as a premier sporting and social event in the UAE.

McIlroy’s appearance in 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of his first participation in the tournament as an amateur in 2006. He claimed his inaugural professional win at this venue in 2009 and added more titles in 2015, 2023, and 2024. His thrilling victory in 2024 marked his fourth championship, exemplifying his lasting bond with both Dubai and its supporters.

“This has been a truly remarkable year for me, and I am eager for what lies ahead,” stated the World Number Two. “The Hero Dubai Desert Classic has always been one of my most cherished tournaments, and I am very much looking forward to returning to Emirates Golf Club in January. I see Dubai as a second home – the reception from the crowd is always fantastic, making it an ideal way to kick off the year.”

In addition to top-tier golf, attendees can enjoy the lively atmosphere of Tournament Town, which will offer live music, entertainment, food trucks, family-friendly activities, arts and crafts, wellness opportunities, and much more. General admission is complimentary on Thursday and Friday, while early bird tickets for the weekend start at Dhs75. Admission is free for children aged 17 and under throughout the event.

Select premium hospitality packages are also available. The Dallah Lounge, conveniently situated between the 9th and 18th greens, provides gourmet dining and exclusive rooftop views, with prices starting from Dhs1,890. The Social on Sixteen, which overlooks the iconic 16th hole and is expanding for 2026, features four hours of dining and beverages along with unparalleled views starting from Dhs625.

Now in its third consecutive year of GEO certification, the tournament is committed to sustainability, promoting initiatives such as eco-friendly transportation and a dedicated Mental Fitness Zone for players and their teams.

Simon Corkill, the executive tournament director for the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, remarked, “Rory’s return is a stellar way to launch our 2026 event. We greatly appreciate his involvement, and to welcome him back as the Masters Champion after an exceptionally stellar season adds remarkable prestige to our tournament. With the introduction of reasonably priced weekend tickets, our enhanced sustainability initiatives, and increased focus on wellness, family-friendly activities, and entertainment in Tournament Town, we’re transforming the Hero Dubai Desert Classic into not just a top event on the DP World Tour but also a must-see highlight on Dubai’s sporting and social calendar.”

Entering its 37th year, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic retains its status as the Middle East’s oldest professional golf tournament and a premier Rolex Series event on the DP World Tour.
