The police in Oman announced today, Wednesday, that a poisoning incident occurred in the Al Suwaiq area of the North Batina Governorate, linked to the consumption of bottled water imported from Iran.
The statement revealed that the incident resulted in the death of an Omani citizen and a foreign woman, while a local citizen has begun to recover following the poisoning. Tests confirmed that the bottled water was contaminated.
Authorities have initiated the removal of all affected bottles from local markets and are implementing precautionary measures to ensure the safety of both citizens and residents.
Additionally, coordination is underway with relevant government bodies to ban the importation of all types of bottled water from Iran until investigations related to the incident are completed.
The Omani police urged all citizens and residents to refrain from using the mentioned water and to report any suspicious cases or similar incidents immediately to ensure community safety.
