Mikhail Shudakov, the Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, has affirmed that globally discovered uranium reserves are sufficient to supply nuclear power plants with fuel until the end of the 21st century. He dismissed any indications of a crisis or emergency in supply.
In comments reported by Russian news agency TASS during the Global Nuclear Energy Week in Moscow, Shudakov explained that mining operations are influenced by market prices, with the key factor remaining the cost of electricity production. This aligns with statements made by Alexey Likhachev, the Director General of Rosatom.
Shudakov also mentioned that geological exploration is ongoing and regularly uncovers new deposits worldwide, which enhances the long-term stability of the nuclear energy sector.
