Tesla Starts Offering Cybertrucks for Sale in Qatar

Tesla has officially launched sales of its Cybertruck in Qatar, as announced by the electric vehicle manufacturer on X last Friday. This followed the company’s earlier entry into the Saudi Arabian market this year.

This initiative reflects Tesla’s ongoing efforts to expand its global presence amid declining demand and heightened competition in its primary markets, namely the US and China.

The company marked its entry into Saudi Arabia in April with the unveiling of the Cybertruck alongside an updated Model Y in Riyadh. Tesla plans to facilitate regional sales by offering online orders, temporary showrooms, charging stations, and service facilities.

Tesla initially penetrated the Middle Eastern market in 2017, launching in the UAE. With Qatar now included, the UAE and Saudi Arabia make up the initial markets for Cybertruck sales outside of North America.

The company does not provide specific sales figures for the Cybertruck model in its quarterly delivery reports. However, a recall notification from the US in March indicated that 46,096 Cybertrucks had been manufactured from November 2023 to early this year.

Tesla also encounters significant competition in the region from Chinese manufacturers such as BYD and Zeekr, as well as Lucid, which is funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

Led by Elon Musk, the company reported record deliveries in the third quarter, largely due to a surge in US customers eager to take advantage of a $7,500 tax credit before it expired on September 30. Nevertheless, analysts anticipate a significant decline in deliveries in the fourth quarter due to the removal of EV purchase incentives.
