The ride-hailing service Zed, based in the UAE, has significantly broadened its operations with the addition of 10,764 vehicles, thanks to collaborations with the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) and National Taxi. This development allows Zed to account for over 80% of the taxi services in the emirate, as announced by the company on Thursday.
As a result of this expansion, Zed now hosts the second-largest taxi fleet in Dubai, incorporating the vehicles of the city’s leading three taxi providers, including Kabi by Al Ghurair.
According to Zed, the initiative aims to enhance service availability, minimize cancellation rates, and decrease estimated wait times for customers.
Zed Enhances Dubai’s Transportation System
Badr Al Ghurair, CEO of Zed, emphasized the company’s extensive experience in the mobility sector, stating, “Zed and Kabi by Al Ghurair bring over 25 years of industry knowledge that informs our understanding of commuting habits and cultural norms in Dubai. This partnership with DTC and National Taxi will further reinforce the mobility infrastructure in Dubai, ensuring reliable transport options for our communities.”
Abhinav Patwa, Executive Vice President and head of Zed, mentioned that these partnerships provide the company with greater scale and dependability, benefiting drivers while focusing on customer satisfaction. “As Dubai sets the stage for future mobility solutions, Zed is honored to play a role in this evolution, contributing to progress one ride at a time,” he remarked.
The Zed app features guaranteed timely pickups for pre-arranged premium rides, and the company also intends to roll out loyalty rewards, digital wallet options, and partnerships centered around lifestyle services.
This expansion is in line with Dubai’s Smart City 2025 initiative, which aims to transition 80% of taxi bookings to e-hailing platforms, while also integrating electric and hybrid vehicles to promote a more sustainable transportation environment.
Zed is accessible on both iOS and Android platforms.
