Dubai Health Authority Introduces an Interactive Device to Raise Awareness for Individuals with Disabilities

The Dubai Health Authority showcased an innovative device named “The World as I See It” during its participation in the International Expo for People of Determination. This groundbreaking interactive dome simulates the daily life experiences of three categories of individuals with disabilities: those with autism, schizophrenia, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Dr. Hind Al Awadi, Head of Community Empowerment and Education at the Public Health Department of the Dubai Health Authority, explained that the device aims to educate visitors and stakeholders about the intricacies of life from the perspectives of these groups. It highlights the psychological, behavioral, and sensory challenges they face, contributing to fostering empathy and facilitating their full integration into society.

She noted that the dome provides visitors with a realistic experience that mirrors the feelings of people with disabilities in everyday situations, such as handling noise or visual stimuli, all within an educational framework that combines modern technology with humanitarian messages.

Dr. Al Awadi added that this innovation reflects the authority’s commitment to raising public awareness about issues faced by people with disabilities. She emphasized that “the experience offers a rare opportunity for visitors to see the world through different eyes and understand the daily challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, thereby enhancing the culture of acceptance, empathy, and strengthening human bonds within society.”
