US President Trump’s Plan to End the Gaza War Welcomed Globally
President Donald Trump’s proposed initiative to resolve the conflict in Gaza has received positive responses both regionally and internationally. As Hamas evaluates the proposal, Trump has set a four-day deadline for the group to respond or risk facing repercussions.
A collaborative statement from foreign ministers of significant nations—including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt—expressed support for Trump’s leadership and sincere efforts to conclude the hostilities in Gaza, highlighting their confidence in his ability to pave a path toward peace.
The ministers emphasized the importance of maintaining a partnership with the US in establishing peace in the region. They praised Trump’s plan that aims to conclude the war, facilitate the reconstruction of Gaza, prevent the displacement of Palestinians, stimulate comprehensive peace efforts, and uphold the stance against the annexation of the West Bank. They expressed their readiness to work cooperatively with the US and other relevant parties to ensure the agreement’s implementation and guarantee peace and stability for the region’s populations.
The statement detailed a commitment to collaborate with the US to end the war in Gaza through a comprehensive agreement that ensures adequate humanitarian aid reaches the area unimpeded, prevents the displacement of Palestinians, secures the release of hostages, and establishes a security framework to safeguard all parties. It also stressed the necessity of a complete Israeli withdrawal, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the pursuit of a fair peace process based on a two-state solution, unifying Gaza and the West Bank as a single Palestinian state in accordance with international law, which is crucial for achieving regional stability and security.
The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, also praised Trump’s plan. He remarked that any international effort aimed at alleviating the ongoing crisis and addressing the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza deserves recognition and support.
Al-Budaiwi affirmed in a statement that a ceasefire, immediate lifting of restrictions, as well as the provision of aid, while preventing the displacement of the population and ensuring their protection, should be at the forefront of any responsible international initiative. He underscored that the success of any proposal hinges on serious execution, safeguarding civilians, and creating suitable conditions for stability.
He highlighted that the Gulf Cooperation Council is optimistic about the suggested measures that could lead to a genuine path that secures the established rights of the Palestinian people, prominently including the establishment of their independent state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Budaiwi reiterated the Council’s readiness to engage collaboratively with both regional and international partners to support any effort that would aid in resolving the Gaza crisis and to delineate a solution that upholds the rights of the Palestinian people based on the two-state solution, thereby achieving security and stability in the region.
The UN Secretary-General António Guterres called upon all parties to agree to and implement Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, according to a spokesperson’s statement. Farhan Haq emphasized the urgency for all parties to commit to the agreement and reaffirmed Guterres’s call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire.
European Union officials also expressed their support for Trump’s peace initiative. EU Foreign Affairs Commissioner, Kaja Kallas, noted via social media that the plan represents an opportunity for lasting peace and provides the best immediate chance to end the conflict. She added that the EU is prepared to assist in its success. Kallas pointed out that Israel has accepted the plan, urging Hamas to do likewise without delay, beginning with the immediate release of hostages.
In a similar vein, President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, emphasized the need for all parties to seize this moment to give peace a genuine chance. He stated that the situation in Gaza is untenable and must swiftly end hostilities, with the immediate release of all hostages, allowing both Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace and security. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen echoed these sentiments, affirming the EU’s readiness to contribute.
UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) spokesperson Jens Lerk indicated that while the UN is specifically referenced in Trump’s plan, it did not participate in its development. He noted that aid distributions have been hindered and looted before reaching distribution sites. However, he confirmed that supplies are available in the region and that OCHA possesses the necessary infrastructure to begin distribution upon receiving Israeli approval.
The Palestinian Authority welcomed Trump’s proposal, committing to undertake the necessary reforms requested by the US. The Palestinian government expressed its desire to establish a modern, democratic, disarmed Palestinian state committed to plurality and peaceful power transition.
The Palestinian Authority vowed to implement a curriculum development program adhering to UNESCO standards within two years, abolishing laws and regulations regarding financial payments to families of prisoners and martyrs. It also sought to create a unified social welfare system subject to international scrutiny.
French President Emmanuel Macron praised Trump’s initiative, suggesting that it could ensure the release of hostages and end the violence. Through social media, Macron stated that Hamas has no choice but to immediately release all hostages and adhere to the plan, expressing hope for constructive engagement from Israel.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also welcomed Trump’s proposal, urging Hamas to accept the plan to alleviate suffering by disarming and releasing all remaining hostages. He stressed strong support for Trump’s efforts to cease hostilities, release hostages, and secure urgent humanitarian assistance for Gaza’s population, calling it a top priority that must be achieved swiftly. He encouraged all parties to meet with and work alongside the US administration to finalize and implement the agreement.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed support for Trump’s plan, insisting that Hamas must agree to it. He remarked that this proposal represents the best opportunity, at least so far, to end years of bloodshed. Merz underscored that Israel’s backing of the plan is a significant step forward and urged Hamas to accept it, paving the way to peace. He revealed that Germany is prepared to contribute to its political and humanitarian implementation, as well as aid in the reconstruction of the region.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez welcomed the proposal, asserting the need to cease violence, release all hostages immediately, and allow humanitarian assistance to reach civilians. The Italian government described Trump’s initiative as ambitious, aimed at stabilizing and developing Gaza, and saw it as a potential turning point. They called on all parties to seize this opportunity and endorse the plan.
Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair lauded the initiative, which he is expected to play a key role in, describing it as bold and intelligent. He stated that if agreed upon, Trump’s plan could conclude the conflict, deliver immediate relief to Gaza, and offer a brighter future for its inhabitants, ensuring Israel’s absolute and ongoing security and the release of all hostages.
Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, stated that if Hamas rejects Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, Israel will complete its mission and recover all remaining hostages. He remarked during a UN event that if the plan is rejected, Israel will accomplish its goal, either easily or with difficulty. He added that they cannot wait for the return of the hostages, declaring that the plan is not merely a pathway but also a strategy to eliminate Hamas.
The Kremlin has expressed hope that Trump’s peace plan for Gaza will be executed and contribute to achieving peace in the Middle East. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia continuously supports and welcomes any efforts made by Trump to end the current tragedy, underscoring their wish for the plan to be implemented and to help conclude the events in the Middle East peacefully.
Additionally, China announced its support for the US peace initiative aimed at ending the Gaza conflict, calling for both parties to reach a comprehensive ceasefire immediately and release all hostages, according to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The spokesperson, Hua Chunying, affirmed that Beijing endorses all efforts made to de-escalate tensions between Israel and Palestine, reiterating China’s commitment to the principle that Palestinians should govern Palestine and that a two-state solution must be realized.
Meanwhile, Hamas began to review Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, having received the proposal consisting of 20 points. An informed official indicated that Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian Intelligence Director Mahmoud Rashad met with Hamas negotiators to deliver the proposal. Hamas negotiators confirmed their intention to consider the plan in good faith and provide a response. A close aide to Hamas noted that the group has commenced its review, suggesting that consultations may take several days.
Trump emphasized that Hamas has three to four days to respond to the Gaza peace plan, warning of consequences should they fail to do so. He informed reporters while leaving the White House that Israeli and Arab leaders have accepted the plan, awaiting only Hamas’s reply. He stated, “Hamas can either accept the plan or not, and if not, it will be a very unfortunate end.” When questioned about the possibility of negotiating the peace plan, Trump said, “Not much.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the military would remain in most of Gaza’s territories, asserting that they will achieve the return of all hostages alive and healthy while maintaining significant military presence in the area. He clarified that he did not agree to the establishment of a Palestinian state during talks with Trump, stating in a telegram message, “No, absolutely not.. and that was not part of the agreement.. We clearly stated that we strongly oppose a Palestinian state.”
Party leader of Israel Beitenu, Avigdor Lieberman, remarked that any initiative aimed at returning all prisoners should be welcomed in response to Trump’s proposal for ending the conflict in Gaza. An Israeli newspaper quoted him on social media, stating that any initiative bringing all prisoners back home deserves support and that children should return to their borders.
Qatar expressed satisfaction with the security guarantees provided by the US, while Israel has promised not to attack again.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed Al-Ansari, announced during a press conference in Doha that the security guarantees and commitments received from Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister were very clear. He mentioned that Trump assured Qatar of not facing any future attacks. Al-Ansari concluded with assurance that Qatar is satisfied with these security guarantees, adding that Israel has promised not to attack Qatar again.
