The Capital Market Authority of Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday its intention to seek public feedback regarding a proposal to allow all types of non-resident foreign investors access to its primary stock market for direct investments.
Should the proposal receive approval, it would eliminate the current Qualified Foreign Investor framework, allowing all foreign investors to engage in the market without having to meet specific eligibility criteria. This change would also put an end to swap agreements, granting non-resident investors the ability to invest directly in publicly traded shares.
