Sharjah Forum Recommends Advancing Arabic Language Learning Tools with Artificial Intelligence

Participants at the International Arabic Language Teachers Forum emphasized that artificial intelligence presents a unique opportunity to enhance the teaching methods of the Arabic language, making it more accessible and appealing to learners.

The fourth edition of the forum recently concluded, organized by the Sharjah Private Education Authority and the Sharjah Academy for Education, under the theme “Building and Rising” – unleashing potential and employing innovations.

Held at the Higher Education and Scientific Research Council building in Sharjah, the event saw the participation of 350 students who showcased applied research projects in collaboration with 48 schools. Additionally, 77 enriching sessions and training workshops were conducted, featuring a distinguished lineup of specialists.

Participants stressed the importance of various state institutions adopting quality initiatives that leverage artificial intelligence and modern technologies across different fields, such as publishing, education, lexicography, and creative content.

Najla Al-Mansouri, Director of the Teaching Affairs Department at the Sharjah Private Education Authority, stated, “Our organizing team has worked diligently to discuss the challenges of teaching Arabic and explore ways to enhance it through insights drawn from school environments and experiences from leading educational systems.”

Dr. Rana Mustafa Nazzal, an Arabic language expert and school developer, explained that the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technologies necessitates a commitment to ensuring these innovations enrich our linguistic and cultural identity, emphasizing the importance of using technology to support our language rather than allowing it to undermine our cultural uniqueness.

Latifa Al-Hosani, Director of the Abu Dhabi branch of the Applied Technology Schools, noted that artificial intelligence could make Arabic content on the internet more widespread, accurate, and effective. Consequently, this would enhance the appeal of the Arabic language and broaden its use in the digital community. In the educational sector, AI can play a crucial role in improving learning processes and deepening students’ understanding of the Arabic language.

Dr. Naima Abdul Latif Qasim, an educator, affirmed the continuous need for support and development of the Arabic language to adapt to emerging challenges and to capitalize on the advantages offered by modern technologies.
