Dubai Municipality Introduces the ‘City Inspector’ Program

Dubai Municipality has introduced the ‘City Inspector’ initiative, a pioneering program aimed at training and certifying competent inspectors in various municipal sectors, as announced by the authority.

The primary objective of the initiative is to create a cohesive inspection system, streamline processes, and enhance adherence to established laws and regulations, thereby improving service quality and overall community satisfaction.

In its initial phase, Dubai Municipality has approved 63 Emirati inspectors who are proficient in 14 different technical areas related to municipal inspections.

This initiative seeks to standardize inspection methods, eliminate redundancies, and bolster the effectiveness of Dubai’s regulatory system, thereby reinforcing the city’s position as a leader in providing a living environment that prioritizes health, safety, and quality of life.

Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, the Director-General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted the crucial role of regulatory and inspection activities in fostering service improvement and strategic institutional planning.

Announcement of City Inspector Professional Diploma

In support of this initiative, Dubai Municipality has rolled out the ‘City Inspector Professional Diploma’, which certifies inspectors in essential municipal domains such as health and safety, food safety, construction operations, waste management, sanitation, sustainability, and oversight of public facilities.

City inspectors will carry out regular, complaint-driven, and visual inspections aimed at minimizing unnecessary visits and reducing complaints related to inspection processes.

Their responsibilities are vital in optimizing regulatory procedures and protecting the interests of the community.

This initiative incorporates structural reforms and critical enablers, including well-defined inspection responsibilities, a legal framework that confers judicial authority status, comprehensive inspection manuals with risk-based checklists, detailed job descriptions, training and awareness programs to enhance inspector skills, and the integration of advanced technologies to elevate inspection efficiency and results.
