The Museum of the Future Showcases the Journey of Arab Creativity Toward Global Recognition

The Future Museum recently hosted the inaugural session of the “Knowledge Forum,” organized in collaboration with the “Arab Talents” initiative. The event featured the renowned Iraqi artist Dia Al-Azzawi, recipient of the “Arab Talents” award for 2024, who is celebrated as a leading figure in contemporary Arab visual art.

The session brought together a distinguished group of artists, experts, creatives, academics, art students, and cultural enthusiasts from the UAE and beyond.

During the session, Dia Al-Azzawi discussed significant milestones that have shaped the trajectory of contemporary Arab art, exploring its evolution into a global phenomenon. He emphasized the role of art in expressing Arab identity, documenting the region’s visual memory, fostering innovation, and highlighting Arabic calligraphy as an independent expressive medium.

Aesthetic Awareness

Al-Azzawi provided an in-depth analysis of the symbols and artistic tools that have contributed to the formulation of Arab aesthetic and cultural awareness over the decades, linking them to historical events that inspired artistic movements within the Arab world. He illustrated how these developments have influenced the uniqueness of his creative journey.

He showcased a series of interactive works and images capturing pivotal moments in the evolution of both Arab and global art, offering a comprehensive perspective on his experiences spanning over five decades that transcended borders to reach leading museums and international art institutions. He also discussed the evolving relationship between art and humanity, and the artist’s role in transmitting cultural and human values to new generations capable of innovation and reinterpreting concepts of beauty in contemporary contexts.

Open Dialogue

The session attracted a gathering of Emirati, Arab, and international artists, as well as art faculty from prominent UAE universities and students specializing in creative disciplines. The forum provided participants with an opportunity for open dialogue, enabling the exchange of artistic and cultural perspectives within an inspiring environment that celebrates creativity, diversity, and openness.

Cultural Movement Enhancement

The “Knowledge Forum” is organized as part of the Future Museum’s commitment to support Arab creativity and enhance cultural initiatives in the region. This initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aims to offer a knowledge-based and artistic platform that connects creative Arab minds with their audience while expanding collaboration between artists, thinkers, and scholars across various fields.

A New Platform

The “Knowledge Forum” is one of the new platforms within the Future Museum’s programs for 2025 and will be held regularly, featuring a selection of exceptional Arab talents across diverse fields, including science, arts, literature, architecture, and technology.

The program offers a limited number of seats to ensure a distinctive interactive experience focused on dialogue and knowledge exchange, within an environment that stimulates critical and creative thinking.

The “Knowledge Forum” is set to continue its sessions over the upcoming months, hosting prominent Arab figures in literature, architecture, thought, and the arts, further establishing the Future Museum as a global center for cultural dialogue and a platform for envisioning and inspiring Arab creative energies towards new avenues of leadership and impact.

Upcoming Sessions

Future sessions will feature notable participants such as the acclaimed Algerian novelist Waciny Laredj, a literature professor at the University of Algiers and Paris-Sorbonne, who is a recipient of the Sheikh Zayed Book Prize. His works have been translated into over twenty languages, making him one of the most prominent Arab creators in the global literary landscape.

The forum will also host Jordanian architect and urban designer Sahl Al-Hiyari, who holds a Master’s degree in architecture from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and has been recognized in the “Rolex Young Talents” program, establishing himself as one of the most influential Arab architects in modern architectural trends.
