Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, presided over a meeting of the Executive Council yesterday morning, attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, also Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The council addressed various topics aimed at improving the performance of government departments and monitoring the implementation of public policies and plans for the Emirate of Sharjah, ensuring the provision of optimal services to the community across multiple sectors.
A decision was made regarding the regulation of vehicle impoundment in the Emirate of Sharjah. This regulation seeks to streamline the vehicle impounding process by establishing fees intended to enhance the quality of services and organize impoundment procedures, in accordance with clear guidelines that safeguard individual rights and support efforts by relevant authorities to address traffic violations. Additionally, it aims to improve the efficiency of operations at impound lots, contributing to the preservation of both public and private property.
In accordance with the decision, the competent authority may accept requests from vehicle owners or legally entitled individuals to replace the duration of impoundment by paying the stipulated fees for both light and heavy vehicles. This applies for each day of the designated impoundment period, whether for the entire duration or for the remaining days. The decision also specifies that the daily land fee for impounded vehicles will be calculated based on the reason for impoundment.
Furthermore, the council issued a decision regarding vehicle towing fees in Sharjah, aimed at providing the best services to the community when transporting disabled vehicles due to accidents or those seized by relevant authorities. This will be accomplished through the efficient and effective handling of vehicles using the latest technologies. The council also approved a franchise agreement with taxi companies operating in the emirate to enhance and develop the transportation system.
