His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a high-ranking delegation from Shanghai Electric, led by Wu Li, the Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group. At the beginning of the meeting, Al Tayer extended a warm welcome to the visiting team.
He highlighted the significance of enhancing collaborative efforts with Shanghai Electric, noting that DEWA has established strategic partnerships with several leading Chinese companies in the fields of renewable energy, clean technology, and digital transformation, which supports the global transition in the energy sector.
The discussions focused on broadening cooperation in the areas of clean energy production and distribution, as well as promoting sustainability. Al Tayer emphasized the need to leverage advanced technologies and activate international partnerships to address the rapidly evolving challenges in the global energy landscape.
Al Tayer noted that the meeting reflects DEWA’s firm commitment to leading sustainable solutions and building effective international strategic partnerships. He stated that collaboration with major global entities in the energy sector, such as Shanghai Electric, contributes to accelerating the transition toward a sustainable future and supports the achievement of Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050.
A Proven Record
The partnership between DEWA and Shanghai Electric is based on a successful history of collaboration. Shanghai Electric has served as the main contractor within a global consortium for the implementation of the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is the largest concentrated solar power project in a single location worldwide. This project, developed under an independent power producer model, involved investments amounting to 15.78 billion AED and has a production capacity of up to 950 megawatts, utilizing both concentrated solar power technology and photovoltaic panels.
