Indian cricket players, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, along with women’s team leaders Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, showcased their new uniforms on Saturday. This unveiling marks the introduction of the team’s latest jerseys for the ODI and T20I formats.
A video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided the first look at these new jerseys. The BCCI emphasized the motivation behind the jersey design with the catchphrase, “Impossible Is Nothing!”
The complete set of jerseys for all formats—Test, ODI, and T20I—for the 2023-24 season was officially revealed earlier this week. The launch took place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, a significant venue for Indian cricket.
In a collaborative post on social media, Adidas India, the sponsor for Team India, expressed excitement over the new designs. The jerseys, described as “iconic,” aim to bolster team morale and inspire players and fans alike.
With the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 approaching, which is set to be hosted entirely in India from October to November, these jerseys will play a vital role during the tournament. This also marks a historic moment, as it is the first World Cup to be held in India.
Additionally, the Indian team is expected to don their new white jersey during the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia, scheduled to commence on June 7 at The Oval in London.
The squad for the WTC final includes prominent players such as Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin, among others. Standby players for this important match are Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar, and Suryakumar Yadav.
This season’s jersey launch has not only generated buzz among cricket fans but also signifies a new chapter in Indian cricket as they prepare for important international matches ahead.
