Jatadhara Movie Review: A Mixed Bag of Myth and Horror
“Jatadhara,” directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, brings a unique premise centered around a ghost hunter named Shiv, portrayed by Sudheer Babu. The film intertwines elements of black magic with a story that probes into Shiv’s haunted past. Although it attempts to carve a niche in the horror genre, it ultimately falls short in several areas.
The narrative invites comparison to other supernatural tales, as Shiv grapples with disturbing dreams tied to a murder and the mysterious Dhan Pishachini. This establishes the foundation of the film. As the story unfolds, Shiv discovers a photograph in his home featuring the same figures haunting his dreams, which propels him into a chilling investigation.
In the first half, “Jatadhara” manages to build suspense without relying on clichéd jump scares. The atmosphere created is genuinely eerie, leading viewers through an intriguing mystery. However, one misstep is the unnecessary item number, “Pallo Latke,” which detracts from the overall tone and feels like an unwelcome detour.

Performance-wise, Sudheer Babu delivers a commendable performance that aligns well with the film’s tone, showing restraint throughout. Sonakshi Sinha, on the other hand, appears earnest in her attempt to break away from her usual roles, although she is hindered by lackluster writing.
