The Emirates Cricket Board has announced the UAE team that will compete in the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, set to take place in South Africa from January 14 to 29. This inaugural tournament presents a significant opportunity for young female cricketers to showcase their skills on an international stage.
Leading the UAE squad is wicketkeeper-batter Theertha Satish, who will guide her team through a challenging Group D, which includes South Africa, India, and Scotland. The team has been recognized for its strong sense of cohesion and performance.
Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Chairman of the Selection Committee, praised the team for their remarkable teamwork and positive mentality. He expressed confidence in their ability to compete effectively in the World Cup, wishing them success in their South African journey.
The UAE earned their spot in the tournament by achieving an impressive five-match clean sweep during the Asia Qualifiers. The team’s objective is to finish among the top three in their group, which will allow them to progress to the ‘Super Six’ stage of the competition.
Head coach Najeeb Amar emphasized the team’s successful journey in 2022, marking their participation in this historic event. He highlighted their commitment to performing at their best and aiming for a place in the Super Sixes.
