Vijayta Pandit Claims Sulakshana Pandit Is Unaware of Sandhya’s Death

Vijayta Pandit recently opened up about the tragic story of her sister Sandhya Pandit, whose murder remains a haunting memory for their family. In an interview, she disclosed that even a decade later, their sister Sulakshana Pandit is unaware of Sandhya’s fate. Vijayta emphasized that revealing the truth to Sulakshana would be devastating.

Sandhya, who was also related to music compositional duo Jatin-Lalit, disappeared in 2012, with her partial remains found weeks later. Reflecting on this harrowing event, Vijayta recounted the shock of discovering Sandhya’s bones scattered across various locations. The family had initially searched for her, believing she was just missing, only to later learn that her murder had occurred.

Moreover, Vijayta shared the extent of Sulakshana’s ignorance about their sister’s death. She has kept up the facade that Sandhya is alive, living in Indore and often calling. Vijayta noted, “Sulakshana thinks she is alive and asks me to send her love to our sister.” This ongoing charade is part of Vijayta’s efforts to protect Sulakshana from the tragic news.

In a related development, media reports from 2021 revealed that Sandhya’s son, Raghuveer Singh, was acquitted of her murder charges. The Thane sessions court stated that the prosecution failed to establish a strong case against him, noting only his alcohol addiction and a strained relationship with his mother.

In a separate but equally poignant update, Sulakshana recently passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 71. Her family confirmed her death, and her last rites were performed in Mumbai. Sulakshana made significant contributions to the Indian music industry, becoming known for her songs alongside legends like Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi.

She began her film career in the 1975 movie Uljhan, starring opposite Sanjeev Kumar, and enjoyed a prolific career in the industry, featuring in films such as Hera Pheri, Dharam Kanta, and Do Waqt Ki Roti. Her legacy is marked by memorable musical collaborations, ensuring she will be remembered within the realm of Indian cinema.
