Brad Pitt Seeks $35 Million from Angelina Jolie Over Winery Dispute

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, once celebrated as Hollywood’s leading couple, shocked fans with their separation announcement in 2016, just two years after their marriage. As the final details of their divorce unfold, their ongoing legal battle concerning the ownership of a French winery, Chateau Miraval, has come back into the spotlight.

Recently, reports indicate that Brad Pitt has filed a lawsuit against Angelina Jolie, seeking $35 million in damages related to her sale of Chateau Miraval. Pitt’s legal team has presented evidence of exchanges between Jolie’s representatives about the transaction that took place in 2021. In a response from Jolie’s legal counsel, it was noted that Pitt’s decision to sue has led him to incur all associated costs of producing the necessary documentation to support his claims.

In an email from October 2023, Jolie’s team articulated concerns over Pitt’s allegations of harm to the winery’s operations, emphasizing his unwillingness to provide critical legal documents that are pivotal to the case. This back-and-forth highlights the tensions regarding the management and ownership of the winery, which both parties co-own.

Pitt and Jolie acquired Chateau Miraval during their marriage. Pitt’s complaint suggests that Jolie unilaterally sold her share to a third party without his approval, despite a historical agreement that both needed to consent to any sale. The lawsuit, filed in February 2022, reflects a buildup of grievances stemming from their divorce and the complexities surrounding their business dealings.

Furthermore, in June 2025, Pitt took steps to depose Alexey Oliynik, an employee of the Stoli Group, who he claims possesses pertinent information concerning Jolie’s sale of the winery. It’s worth noting that the couple each held a 50 percent interest in Miraval, with Jolie having utilized her LLC, Nouvel, for her stake and Pitt employing his LLC named Mondo Bongo.

As tensions continue to rise, Jolie’s entity has filed a countersuit against Pitt, claiming that he mismanaged the winery’s resources and is seeking $350 million in damages as a result. This demonstrates the fragility of their partnership, not only as co-parents of six children but also as business partners navigating a complex legal landscape.

The long, drawn-out nature of their divorce was officially concluded in December 2024, nearly ten years after Jolie first filed for separation. Her legal representation has suggested in court that Pitt has been resistant to negotiations over the winery due to her refusal to agree to a non-disclosure agreement pertaining to their business dealings.

As this legal saga develops, many are left wondering how it will conclude and what implications it may have for both parties moving forward in their respective personal and professional lives.
