Azharuddin, Wasim, and Waqar Headline Star-Studded Commentary Team for DP World ILT20

The inaugural season of the DP World International League T20 is poised to make waves in the cricketing world, set to begin on January 13, 2023. This exciting tournament is designed to deliver top-tier entertainment for fans, with matches broadcast on Zee platforms globally. With a star-studded lineup and extensive partnerships, the league promises to enhance the cricketing landscape in the UAE.

A host of renowned players, including Andre Russell, Chris Lynn, and Dwayne Bravo, along with 24 emerging talents from the UAE, are set to take the field. The tournament will unfold across three premier venues: Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Dubai International Stadium, and Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The commentary panel for this month-long event features some of cricket’s most familiar voices, including Ian Bishop, Simon Doull, and David Lloyd. These seasoned commentators will share the excitement in conjunction with cricket legends like Wasim Akram and Harbhajan Singh, adding depth and expertise to the viewing experience.

In addition to the cricket legends, the panel features commentators popular in the Indian subcontinent, such as Russel Arnold and Rohan Gavaskar. Notably, former India captain Anjum Chopra and sports broadcaster Natalie Germanos will represent women in commentary. Presenters like Sanjana Ganesan and Alex Jordan will guide audiences through the matches, with commentary available in English, Hindi, and Tamil.

Harbhajan Singh expressed enthusiasm for the league, highlighting the UAE’s remarkable growth in cricket. He anticipates thrilling performances from the players, which will make commentary a rewarding experience. Ian Bishop echoed these sentiments, looking forward to narrating the action featuring top T20 talent across the UAE’s iconic venues.

Wasim Akram also shared his excitement about being part of the commentary team, emphasizing the thrill of calling the matches alongside friends and fellow cricketing legends. The tournament will also see the expertise of Simon Taufel, a five-time ICC Umpire of the Year, who will oversee the Match Officials panel and officiate the opening game.

The DP World ILT20 will feature six franchise teams comprising 84 international players complemented by 24 UAE-based players. These teams include Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, and Sharjah Warriors. As the league unfolds, the cricket community can expect a dynamic and competitive atmosphere that is sure to captivate fans around the world.
