Tragic Passing of Stuntman Raju During Filming Prompts Mourning in Cinema

Tamil actor Vishal has expressed deep sorrow over the death of stunt artist SM Raju, who tragically lost his life while performing a car stunt for Arya’s upcoming film. Raju passed away on set during a challenging car toppling sequence, a moment that has left the film community mourning.

Vishal confirmed the news on social media, describing Raju as a brave individual who consistently executed high-risk stunts. He shared, “So difficult to digest the fact that stunt artist Raju passed away… He has performed so many risky stunts in my films time and again.” Along with his condolences, Vishal pledged long-term support for Raju’s family, stating his commitment to help them during this difficult time.

Prominent stunt choreographer Stunt Silva also honored Raju’s legacy, acknowledging his contributions to the industry. Silva highlighted Raju as one of the finest car-jumping stunt artists, emphasizing the loss felt by their stunt union and the broader film industry.

Raju was known for his fearless approach to action sequences in the Kollywood film sector, earning significant recognition among actors and filmmakers alike. His dedication to the craft made him a respected figure in the industry.

At the time of his untimely passing, Raju was involved in filming what is thought to be the sequel to the 2021 Tamil sports drama “Sarpatta Parambarai,” which is expected to premiere in 2026.
