Famed Actor Kota Srinivasa Rao Passes Away at 83, Leaving a Legacy

Kota Srinivasa Rao, a celebrated veteran of Telugu cinema and recipient of the Padma Shri award, passed away in Hyderabad on Sunday at the age of 83. His death has elicited significant tributes from the film community, highlighting his immense contributions to the industry.

Actor Vishnu Manchu expressed his sorrow on social media, remarking on Rao’s unparalleled talent and the impact he had on cinematic storytelling. Manchu reflected on the many films they worked on together and how Rao’s remarkable skills brought dynamic life to his characters, whether in serious roles or comedic parts. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to Rao’s family, emphasizing that although the actor has departed physically, his artistic legacy will endure.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also shared his condolences, stating that Rao’s versatile performances had deeply touched audiences over his nearly four-decade career. He highlighted the irreplaceable loss that Rao’s passing represents for the Telugu film industry and acknowledged Rao’s contributions both on-screen and in public service when he served as an MLA from Vijayawada in 1999.

Reports indicate that Kota Srinivasa Rao’s health had been declining in recent days, with age-related issues leading to his demise. His lengthy career in film began with the 1978 release of “Pranam Khareedu,” and over the years, he established himself as a formidable presence in the industry, amassing a credit of over 500 films across various languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Most notably, he gained recognition for his portrayals of antagonists and strong character roles.

Rao’s talents extended beyond acting; he left an indelible mark on both cinema and theater. He was known for his ability to captivate audiences with his versatile performances, solidifying his status as one of the finest actors in the Telugu film landscape.
